This article was helpful in discussing ways digital cameras and technology could be used in a classroom. By allowing students to photograph they can look at objects or study concepts through a different perspective. They can document and take pictures of projects they are working on. Classes can create class books and create images from a digital camera to be the illustrations. This allows the student to have some freedom in what they create and have a sense of authorship.
For teachers the digial camera can be used for many different ways. One way the article talked about was using it for digitizing artwork and classwork. The originals are sent home and the teacher can use the files to show progress. In families where English is the second languages pictures can be sent home with the students and families can dicuss the pictures in the native language.
This was a very informative article. It gave me some great ideas for use in my own classroom. I plan on allowing students to use the digital camera more frequently this next school year.
